Basic Map Reading and Navigation

Navigating the outdoors with confidence starts with understanding maps and using essential navigation tools. This lesson will cover fundamental map-reading skills, including topographic features, scale, and orientation, as well as the basics of compass use and route planning. Participants will gain hands-on experience interpreting maps, identifying landmarks, and practicing navigation techniques to improve their ability to travel safely and efficiently in various environments. Held rain or shine!
Meeting location: Historic Barns Park “Workshop 223” – From Silver Drive entrance, make a Left at the first stop sign, first building on the left. Look for the SEEDS flags!
