The CONTINUED Corps Craze!

"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve a second term with the Michigan Healthy Climate Corps and continue to partner with SEEDS in strengthening our region's resilience to the changing climate, and all the challenges that come with it. I am looking forward to maintaining, and growing, the relationships and knowledge I have developed in my first term so they can be leveraged for the continued benefit of our community."
Nick Panicola
MI Healthy Climate Corpsmember

Here at SEEDS, we know how critical conservation corps are to creating jobs, restoring habitat, and serving communities. That’s why we were thrilled with the 2024 launch of the MI Healthy Climate Corps program and our collaboration with CEDAM to be part of this exciting program to advance the MI Healthy Climate Plan goals.

This spring, we introduced you to Nick Panicola, a Climate Cycle Specialist that partnered with SEEDS as part of our work with the MI Healthy Climate Corps. After a great year that included our first full season of operating the Compost Petting Zoo at the SEEDS Farm at Historic Barns Park, we’re thrilled to host Nick for a second year as part of the 2025 MI Healthy Climate Corps program.

Nick will also continue working with the Crosshatch Center for Art & Ecology and the Salix Community Forestry Collective. In continuing to support these three organizations, Nick’s work will help us collaboratively address issues of organic waste, carbon sequestration, and methane reduction. His work will contribute to educational outreach on local regenerative agricultural and forestry initiatives, wood rescue, and much more.

We’re still honored to be a part of this national movement, and we’re committed to continuing our efforts to create jobs, restore habitat, and combat climate change. Together, let’s build a greener, more sustainable future for generations to come.

During his first year with MI Healthy Climate Corps, as a Climate Cycle Specialist, Nick Panicola supported robust compost, wood rescue, agroforestry, and carbon sequestration education across NoMi in addition to collaborating with local farmers and partners! We’re excited for another year hosting Nick.
