“Show and Tell” Tour for Farmers: Cattle and Sheep Regenerative Grazing

When
September 14, 2026 | 4:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Where
Misty Acres Farm, 11593 N. Countyline Rd Benzonia, Michigan 49616 United States

Hosted by Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy & Crosshatch Center for Art & Ecology

Crosshatch and the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy welcome all to the Misty Acres Farm at the Borwell Preserve, to tour a regeneratively managed livestock grazing operation on a GTRLC stewarded property. You’ll tour the farm and see cattle raised through on pasture where they are moved frequently between small grazing areas (called management intensive grazing) from 4:30-6:00pm.  We will highlight manure and invasive plant species management, both of which are hard-to management organic wastes.

Afterwards, farmers of all ages and experience are invited to stay (or join) for dinner 6:00 – 8:00 to learn, connect and relax with other farmers. There will be time for all to share skills and strategies for raising cows, goats, and sheep in regenerative grazing. Whether you are already involved on a farm or new to farming, this event is a chance to get inspired and pick up ideas you can use this season and in the future.

This event is part of the Michigan Organics Council’s Great Michigan Compost Tour. Food rescuers, animal feed operators, and composters across the state are hosting tours to highlight how surplus food, yard waste, and food scraps are rescued to feed hungry people or transformed into valuable animal feed or soil amendments. The other tours in our Northern Michigan region are featured in this event series. Most tours take place outdoors, so we advise participants to dress in weather-appropriate layers and footwear.
