I would say that my time in SEEDS made me more successful in high school and helped make me the way I am today.
Alex, High Schooler
Alex loved the SEEDS EcoSchool program at Forest Area Middle School. He was an enthusiastic participant from fourth grade to eighth grade, and credits his time in the program to helping him succeed in high school.
“The homework session was very good because I struggled a lot with homework throughout middle school, so it was very nice having the help with homework through SEEDS. It definitely helped in school. I would say that my time in SEEDS made me more successful in high school and helped make me the way I am today.”
Alex especially loved nature activities, and said he was able to apply what he learned in hands-on activities with SEEDS EcoSchool to future high school projects.
Alex approached us to share his story this summer while we were going through funding uncertainty for 21st Century Community Learning Centers programs, which is the main funding source for SEEDS EcoSchool. He wanted to do what he could to make sure that other students had the same great opportunities he did through the SEEDS EcoSchool program.
“I think it’s important for other kids to have the same opportunities for help with homework and to learn more about nature. I think everyone should have the experience of a program like that. It’s a great place.”
